Love Want Need 8

Another week gone by. Can you feel the change in season? As much as I love summer, I’m loving the cooler sleeping temps lately.

And with a change in season comes the wardrobe re-shuffle. Time to dig out the warmer knits, closed toe shoes and depending which part of the country you live in, maybe even the uggies!

And of course, Autumn means its officially boot season. I’m loving all things grey at the moment so you’ll notice a bit of a grey theme in this week’s ‘Love Want Need’ list and one of the items below may have even made it off the ‘Love Want Need’ list and into the shopping cart. Can you guess which one? Gosh I hope the huz isn’t reading this!

LWN 8

1. Witchery Sleevless Longline Vest $149.95
I’m yet to master the art of layering but this would be perfect Autumn/Winter layering.

2. Mimco Savanna Bucket Bag $299 On Sale (was $550)
Love the textural weave and bohemian feel of this baby. And it’s on sale!

3. Slip Pillowcase $79.95
Sleep on silk and you’ll never go back to anything else. Anti aging, anti sleep crease, anti bed head and pure silk! Makes a great gift!

4. Country Road Sabine Ankle boot $199
A bff for your skinny jeans! And grey… its definitely love!

5. Anthropologie Losin Elephant Tea Pot $48 (USD)
Be still my beating heart. The only reason I have not added this to cart is that my husband would divorce me if I brought another tea pot home. Loving this hard though!

6. Swathi Long Punjammies $52.50
I love a beautiful product with a social cause. Buying a pair of these punjammies helps to create pathways to freedom for women escaping sex slavery to achieve lives of hope and dignity.

What are you loving, wanting, needing lately?

8 Years

eight years

I asked the huz the other day if he could remember his wedding vowels. Nope… couldn’t recall. And whoops… neither could I.

Apart from the bit that went “….. and be your best friend ever“.  I couldn’t for the life of me remember them.

Well, It has been 8 years! These days, I forget how old I’m turning at my next birthday. {tell me it’s not just me this happens to!} But wedding vowels are different. You’re not meant to forget them! I mean, it’s just a lifelong pledge to the person you choose above all others! No biggie!

But what we do remember are the people that made that day everything it was, and the precious little moments. Our sand ceremony. Dad walking me down the isle. The poem written just for us by my Maid of Honour, painted on canvas as our wedding gift. The scent of frangipani’s. Just making it through the ceremony and the heavens opening up. How tiny my niece and nephew were. The tight squeeze of my hand from C’s 100 year old Grandfather when he congratulated us. And the music. The music I definitely remember! {There’s a wedding ‘I heart music’ blog post coming soon}

Poem written by my Maid of Honour, Michelle Karutz and painted onto canvas as our wedding gift. So special!

Poem written by my Maid of Honour, Michelle Karutz and painted onto canvas as our wedding gift. So special!

It really was everything you dream your wedding day will be. I asked C what some of his favourite memories were from the day and he said:

  • Seeing me arrive
  • Our first dance
  • How he and his groomsmen had to madly race back home to get the umbrellas after seeing the storm front coming. {Thank god they did, the photo above with the umbrella is one of my faves}

So 8 years on… I’m still madly in love with this guy I’m proud to call my husband {even if he hasn’t shaved since that day!} And I’m in complete awe when I look at everything we’ve achieved and created together since we said those vows {whatever they were!} on that hot, humid stormy day back in March 2007. I’ll let the pics tell the rest of the story…

What a week. I’m so grateful for Saturday to stop and just breathe!

The week started with an inspiring Bloggers session at General Assembely where we heard from Christina Butcher Editor – Hair Romance, Blog Society’s Founder, Jacklyn Carlson, Felicity Grey – Managing Director at Nuffnang, Jean Carmela Lim from travel blog Holy Smithereens, and Anna Hickey from Etsy. It was a really valuable session and I left feeling super inspired. I love how successful bloggers are only too happy to share their wisdom with us newby’s. It’s just that kinda community! A few cheeky beverages at a funky rooftop bar in the city with my Clever Cookie friends topped the night.

On Thursday, tickets went on sale for the Pro Blogger Training Event with 400 tickets snapped up in the first 20 minutes and yay… I got one! Super excited… bring on August!

Fast forward to Friday and I received news that my crashed hard drive is beyond repair and my precious data is not able to be retrieved! Cue tears. Lots of tears! That damn hard drive had our whole life on it. Baby photos, holiday photos, finances, etc. The upside… being the sharer that I am… life’s big moments are pretty much all on facebook so not all is lost. But still… devastated! And a tough lesson learnt… back up EVERYTHING! Then back up your backup!

Highlights from the week included a splurge at the Witchery sale, conquering an arm balance posture at Yoga finally and getting a babysitter for our Wedding Anniversary celebration dinner next week! Yay!

Still with me?? Here’s some bits that have caught my eye this week around the webs…

  • Our trip to Ikea during the Christmas holidays was rather brutal and I swore I wouldn’t go back anytime soon. But reading Lauren’s post on 21 awesome uses for the raskog cart has almost changed my mind
  • I loved looking at this hipster couple’s wedding anniversary shoot
  • Have you analysed your friendships lately? A lengthy read from Elephant Journal but I’m sure we can all relate
  • I loved Who What Wear’s five style rules for those who are no longer part of the 20-something club
  • Is there room for more cat content on the web? Apparently so! Quick cat owners, secure that insta account asap!

Enjoy your precious weekend and remember… back-up your back-up!!

Shannon_Colour_Transparent

How do you store your photos?

Are you a cat person and will you be securing your cats own instagtam account?

Do you have any style rules you stick to?

A green dress in Rio, a ring and a question…

A green dress in Rio, a ring a question (1)

Green is not a colour I wear often. Its not that I don’t like it, I just don’t think it really suits me.

But this one time… in Rio, I wore a green dress and I won’t ever forget it!

Rio was the second stop on our epic South American adventure and gosh, we fell in love with her! On this particular day, we had been out and about, exploring the Ipanema markets, hanging out at the beach, lunching at THAT cafe {The Garota de Ipanema: Where “The Girl from Ipanema” was written} and getting to know the amazing city that is Rio DeJaneiro during Carnival. A dream come true.

THAT Cafe. The Garota de Ipanema: Where “The Girl from Ipanema” was written

After a fun filled day, we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading off to catch the sunset from the top of Sugar Loaf mountain {Pao de Acucar}, followed by dinner and a bloco – a street party held during Carnival. I was going to wash my hair, but time was of the essence if we wanted to see the sun set so I wacked it back into a messy updo, popped on the green dress and a slick of mascara and off we went.

We took two cable cars to get to the top, the doors opened and there were people everywhere! Seems we were not the only tourists wanting to see the sunset over one of the worlds most amazing cities!

I had started to walk in the direction of the sun set, but C took my hand and pulled me in the opposite direction saying “No, THIS way”… almost pulling my arm out of its socket.

We were standing next to a statue and next thing I knew, he grabbed both my hands and proceeded to say lots of words. All the words! I cant recall them exactly… but they were beautiful and I remember trying to take them all in, remembering to breathe whilst thinking… is he going to…. OMG! I then remember him getting down on one knee, pulling a ring box out of his pocket and saying…

WILL YOU MARRY ME?

Of course I said “YES!”, then cried!

He even had a ring, which I later found out he had hidden in our garage for months and had been carrying around in his backpack since we left Australia. It was a fakie… smart boy, he knew it wasn’t a good idea to travel through South America for months with a diamond ring and he wanted me to pick the real ring when we got home.

There were people surrounding us, smiling, pointing and some even with tears in their eyes. A lady who just happened to be from Sydney came straight over, congratulated us and asked for our camera. She then proceeded to direct us in a photo shoot re-enactment of our proposal. As it was only minutes later, she managed to capture that moment and the butterflies in our tummies. Lady from Sydney, whoever you are… we are forever thankful.

Yes!

We then watched the sun set and took a bunch of photos. It was one of the most vivid sunsets I’ve ever seen!

Rio Sunset 3

Not wanting to leave our magical spot at the top of our mountain {yep, it was totally OUR mountain now}, we grabbed a celebratory drink from the bar. Unfortunately they didn’t have bubbles on offer, so we had a Heineken – the exact same hue as my green dress which is now forever known as “The Heineken Dress”.

Engaged!

After sunset, we got the cable car back down, wondering if we’d ever come back to this magical spot again in our lifetime, joking that we would bring our un-born kids one day.

We then went to dinner at a restaurant in Copacabana where we had many a caipirinha {when in Brazil you must drink their national cocktail!} and then danced the night away at a Bloco. On our walk back to the hotel, the heavens opened up so we danced in the Summer rain with a bunch of strangers. Young, free, soaking wet from the rain & now engaged!

The perfect proposal with memories we will both never forget.

Love Want Need 7: Krissy from Pretty Wee Things

Its been a while since my last ‘Love Want Need’ post, so I thought we would mix things up a little and share the love, so the gorgeous Krissy from Pretty Wee Things blog joins us today sharing her latest finds. And I think you’ll agree… this gal has exquisite taste!

Welcome Krissy!

It’s no secret that I am a little obsessed with Shannon’s Love Want Need posts, so thank you for letting me share my love want need list today!

I have absolutely fallen in love with dusty pink, and with Autumn now here, there are some incredible pieces I have my eye on.
Love Want Need 7

1. Ted Baker Zip Front Cape Coat (in Taupe)

This coat is incredible!  I love the idea of a cape for Winter and Ted Baker has the most incredible collection.  Surprisingly, this coat won’t break the bank too much either, coming in at around $380.  An investment piece for sure.

2. Nars Blush in Orgasim ($38)

If you are yet to hear of the infamous Nars Orgasim then here you go.  Such a classic blush for Autumn, and it suits nearly every skin tone.

3. M.N.G Cross strap sandals ($90)

I recently purchased similar sandals for work.  I love that they have a sturdy heal and enough straps to keep you secure, but still look elegant.  These would look perfect with cropped work pants or a knee length a-line skirt.

4. Oroton Silhouette clutch wallet ($225)

Credit where credit is due, Oroton have beautiful wallets!  After losing mine to the road last week I am in the market for a new one, and I love this little wallet clutch.

5. Paper and Stitch Blog

I know we all love a good blog.  Every time I look at Paper and Stitch I just feel happy. Beautiful photos, fresh and beautiful food, and just pure happiness.

6. Forever New Lara Slim Crop Pants ($80)

I was pointing these pants out to my friend this week, discussing whether I would be able to pull them off.  I love love love them, but I have a feeling they will need the perfect nude heel and fresh while top to keep it looking modern and not grandma.

I hope that you enjoyed this Love Want Need post. Until next time. Krissy xxx

Thanks Krissy! Always a pleasure to have you pop in!

You can catch Krissy at Pretty Wee Things or on facebook and instagram.

photography circle

One of my goals this year is to get better at taking photos. I’m a pretty lazy photographer. Actually, I can’t even call myself that… I’m more of a photo taker. The point and shoot kind. The ‘simple mode’ kind. That’s if I can even be bothered getting the real camera out at all. Most of the time, I just use my phone. Because… convenience.

But goals are set to be achieved, or at least attempted, so with that in mind, I’ve joined a group of my delightful Clever Cookie School of Blog friends in a photography project called 10 on 10.

Here’s how it works:

  1. We pick a day and take 10 photos. Luckily this group are pretty flexible and the photos don’t have to be all from one day. They can be 10 favourite photos from the last month or 10 photos in 10 minutes. You get the drift.
  2. We then all share them in a blog post on the 10th of the month with a link to the next person in the circle who links to the next person and so on and so on.
  3. You then pop the kettle on, brew a pot of tea {T2 ‘Autumn’ is my absolute fave} and follow the links, winding around the whole circle until you get to the end.
  4. You’ll be inspired and may even discover some new blogs to add to your regular reading list.

So, here’s my very first 10 on 10. My favourite 10 photos from the last month…

Another week gone… and we’re into March and Autumn. Just like that!

Its been a juggle of a week with both kids sick and hubby interstate for work. Thank goodness we have a quiet week end coming up. Nippers has now finished which means we finally get a Sunday Sleep In! Well, as much of a sleep in as my2morrows will allow.

I hope your weekend is shaping up well wherever you are. In the meantime, here’s some link love I’ve found around the traps…

  • Its Autumn which means blink and Winter will be upon us. Kinda depressing isn’t it! The only upside… a possible trip to the snow this year and the fact that Winter = leather jacket wearing weather. Check out 6 most affordable leather jackets under $500 from Oracle Fox.
  • I was super excited to be part of Working Mums Collective Monday Motivating Mum series. Sarah started Working Mums Collective for working mums to connect, share stories, celebrate successes and really support and empower each other no matter what journey they are on. Its like a cheer squad for working mums! Thanks lovely Sarah for having me!
  • I first saw this on a local parenting group I belong to. What an awesome hubby! Yep, Miles you really do have a way with words!
  • I’m loving all the grey I’m seeing around the place {not the 50 shades type of grey!}. Pair it with Yellow and oh my gosh. Check out Leanne from Lime & Mortar’s latest Colour Pop. Then go back and check out all of her Colour Pops and tell me how many items are on your shopping list!
  • I can’t for the life of me get the Huz to come to a Yoga class with me and have been talking up the benefits for years. So it was interesting to read this article from Fitstar on why men should do yoga.
So that’s it from me for now.
Have a fab one and enjoy this glorious early Autumn weather.
